Me, a wanderer

Quantcast
I have been rather unusually busy for last few days because I need to finish many essential jobs like visiting banks, running small errands, at a shot and that also within next few days. This is a must as I have to leave for my yearly sojourn abroad. Sometimes I feel like a migratory bird, which must leave for the south as the winter sets in. A better comparison may be to the British Viceroy of India, who always changed his place of office every summer to Shimala. I have been doing this yearly migration for last eleven years. Luckily, I do not have to leave the shores of India on a specific date or a specific season. Unlike the migratory birds or the Viceroy,  I am free to decide the dates of leaving and coming back depending where I am needed more. When my outbound travel date is fixed, my grandchildren abroad are thrilled and happy, whereas my grandchildren in India, whom I would be leaving behind for few months are not so pleased. When I come back, what happens is just exactly in reverse. This always brings certain kind of inertia in me and I do not feel like leaving the place, where I am staying. This migration has become such a part of my routine now that within a day or two, I am back to my daily routine in a new country. Still the unhappiness of the kids, whom I am leaving behind does make me somewhat reluctant to go on travel.
